OPEN SOURCE: Poetyc Portions : A Night of Poetry Readings and An Open Mic

Join Artspace New Haven in its Open Source 2022 Art Festival: In Common Spaces for a program in its week-long series with organizers and writers Anne:Gogh and Sun Queen for a night of poetry readings and an open mic.

 

Like lovingly scooped piles on a plate, Poetyc Portions serves as an invitation to partake in sharing common space with poets you know & love. It is an interactive place to engage, explore, evaluate & elevate through artistic exchange.

 

Free and open to the public.

 

Anne:Gogh is a proud Hartford native committed to uplifting the community through creating safe spaces for self-care and expression. She is a visual & performing artist who is determined to fortify the importance of veracity and altruism. She works as an Employee Specialist assisting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to lead meaningful lives of independence, choice, inclusion, and continuous personal growth. Anne: also serves as a facilitator at Toivo, a holistic healing center. @whos_bold_enuff_2_rebel 

 

Sun Queen is a poet, artivist, entrepreneur, activist, organizer for racial and social justice. Sun Queen is a co-founder of Black Lives Matter New Haven, established in 2015. Sun believes you can transform and heal through art. She published her first poetry collection in a book entitled “It Happened Within The Sun” (2019).

Her second book entitled ” Let Your Light Shine Through” An Affirmation Journal (2021).

 

Ahmad a poet From New Haven, he’s been writing since the fifth grade. He started off writing short stories and eventually found his way to poetry. He writes as a form of therapy and shares his story so that people can find freedom in them. @Just__ahmaad 

 

Aaron St. Louis aka AJoeSaint is a spoken word artist hailing from Springfield, MA. Known for his clever technique, nerdy references, and flow, he expounds on manhood, God, life, and self in an effort to understand them all for himself while all in earshot are pulled into the tumultuous, yet beautiful, journey. @AJoeSaint

 

Yoyo is a multitalented artist from Waterbury, CT who finds refuge in the creation process, especially when it comes to creating music. Her mission is to create a synergistic peace with the unique stories of her community, bringing forth highlighted tales of our people for future generations. @releaseyourtruth

 

El the Poet Goddexx has been writing poetry for 13 years. They have an infinite passion for metaphors to display stories of life, experiences, and storytelling with others. They incorporate their spirituality to be the vessel in which they share these stories. @El the Poet Goddexx
