Jennifer Davies

My work is about material, especially Japanese handmade paper, which I process from mulberry branches into a fluffy pulp. I prize its strong physical presence which I manipulate in different ways. I print and indigo dye it, cast it into molds, and make relief shapes that suggest boulders, tree bark and sea foam.
