Rachel Hellerich: Emerald Ethereal

Rachel Hellerich, a native of New Haven, paints elaborate scenes with a variety of wet media, sometimes on antique paper once owned by her grandmother. Hellerich draws influence from Eastern and specifically Japanese art, and is fascinated by the use of negative space. The New Haven Independent called her exhibition Emerald Ethereal, in the Artspace lounge, “a pop-oriental escape from the weary grays and browns of New Haven streets.”
