Confinement and the Arts of Decoration

How does decoration confine people within the modes of culture? The artists Gloria Zein (Germany), Elise Martens (Norway), and Caterina Verde (US and France) developed an exhibition to explore this question. They met in Paris in 2004 to discuss a collaboration based on shared interests in a dressing the themes of confinement and decoration through the metaphor of the object and movement. The artists bring together their different geographical, cultural, and personal experiences in the three distinct yet interconnected projects on view.
