OPEN SOURCE: Drop-in Collaging: Identifying the Collage with Clymenza Hawkins
October 26, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Join Artspace New Haven in its Open Source 2022 Art Festival: In Common Spaces for a program in its week-long series with artist Clymenza Hawkins. In an artist talk and subjective collage workshop, Clymenza will talk about her work, her process, and how she makes the choices she makes while collaging. Participants should bring images, pictures, magazine clippings, etc., and prepare to collage the images together in this one-day workshop. Paper, glue, and scissors will be provided.
Since 1990 Clymenza Hawkins is a self-taught artist in collage and photomontage. She is known for photo-collage images of Black women as celestial survivors adorned with butterfly wings, powerful visionaries of their own destinies. Clymenza’s art has evolved into a series of metamorphosis through the realms of WomanFolk souls.
