Adults ONLY [Black Desires in Motion]. A conversation between Black Artists.
April 15, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Join Artspace and Artist Dominique Duroseau, 2023 MFA student in Sculpture at the Yale School of Art. Dominique will be in conversation with artist and faculty member in Sculpture, Desmond Lewis. With work featured in Artspace’s current exhibition, [Voicings], Duroseau will be unpacking and discussing (from a personal lens) issues centered around the complexities of Black desires — how does one navigate certain spaces while negotiating one’s vulnerability, how we confront shame, racialized discriminations and fetishism, body negativity politics and the discomfort of desexualization while seeking and processing the normalcy of desires as a Black Person.
This event is for all ages, but beware that explicit language may be used.
We will casually convene at Artspace starting at 6:00 PM for dinner and Dom will start her talk at 7:00 PM.
Beforehand, visit Open Studios at Yale School of Art from 12:00-6:00 PM.
