Meet the Artspace Team: Katie Jurkiewicz

I began as the PR Coordinator at Artspace right at the start of CWOS 2013. If you received an email, an invitation, a tweet or a Facebook post from Artspace in the last two and a half years, I probably had a hand in it. I also handle some small design projects and help with all things web.

I am a working artist. I travel as much as I can and I draw what I see. This past year it’s been Costa Rican rainforest, Scottish highlands, and the bright lights of Vegas. I then interpret in the studio, in increasingly gigantic messy paintings (last one was 7+ft). I’ve been lucky to have found work as a teaching artist, a comic strip illustrator, and a set and costume designer for the CT Lyric Opera. I run a small design business, Katapilla Solutions that helps local non-profits. Plus, I co-wrote a screenplay about a rampaging Yeti and a children’s book about monsters joining the workforce. It’s exhausting, but I drink a lot of coffee.

Proudest moment: Still to come! Artspace will be lauching its brand new website this month (keep your eyes open), a project I have been working on since I began. My colleagues and I have put in many hours and a lot of hard work over the course of several years, this new site will be great for Artspace and a project I am very proud of.
