420 artists opened their studios for the 5th annual City-Wide Open Studios. The Pirelli building was used as the 2002 alternative space for two consecutive weekends. Attendance surpassed 10,000 visitors.
The artists installed in three distinct areas of the former factory building: Pirelli 1F, the ground floor offices and labs in the front of the building, Pirelli 1B, the ground floor “Tire Testing” factory space in the back of the building, and Pirelli 2, the second floor offices and former cubicle spaces. On October 5 at noon, artists selected their rooms on a first come first served basis. They cleaned the space, reconfiguring it to their own specifications and adding their work.
