Public Art Tour: ArtAround New Haven Art Spaces

October 29 @ 10:30 am - 11:30 am

Join us with ArtAround for a Downtown art tour starting at 10:30AM, Saturday, Oct 29, 2022

Meeting at Crown and Park Streets (at the Anne Frank Mural)

Join ArtAround for a half-hour outdoor excursion exploring the public art #onthemap around New Haven art spaces. Beginning at Crown and Park Streets, we’ll weave through Chapel, Crown, and Church Streets on a brief tour of New Haven’s vibrant murals and installations—both new and historic.

ArtAround’s director and the tour leader, Lindsey Mancini, will be the one with the ArtAround arrow shirt and the bright red fanny pack.

ArtAround is a community-based approach to archival practice—an invitation to decide what art in your community is worth archiving. A nonprofit archival project connecting people to the art around them through an open community database, ArtAround’s sustainable web platform allows for the shared social documentation of art in public spaces around the world. Through the map’s transparent taxonomy of tags, categories, and artists, you can search the entire database for all red [tag] Murals [category], or all work from the 2000s [tag] by Swoon [artist], allowing for a comparative analysis of public art from different centuries and on opposite sides of the globe.
