Artists of the Global Majority Mixer

August 18, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

“To eat the same foods [as another person] suggests that we are both willing to bring the same thing into our bodies. People just feel closer to people who are eating the same food as they are. And then trust, cooperation—these are just the consequences of feeling close to someone.”
Join Artspace New Haven for the summer Artists of the Global Majority Mixer. The purpose of this dinner is for local artists, chefs, and interested folks of the Global Majority (BIPOC) to have a meal and dialogue about the role that the arts and food play in building community. Communal dining allows people to feel safe and make themselves vulnerable enough to have meaningful discussion. Participants will enjoy a family-style meal prepared by Chef Steve Roberts and take part in an engaging conversation with our host, Angel Dafay. We invite you to have your mind, soul, and body nourished.
Artists of the Global Majority Mixer is part of Artspace New Haven’s resourcing program series, which provides artist support and professional development. As an in-person event outdoors, Artspace New Haven encourages social distancing.
